May's Book

Thank you Chelsie for opening your home to book club.  We all had a great time discussing the book "The Hiding Place".  It was such an inspiring book that we really had some great discussion about it.

The book for May is Snowflower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See.  Rebecca Buffington will be hosting the book club for this month's book.  Time and date TBA.  I think we decided this last meeting that everyone would try to bring a friend if they can.

Happy Reading!

April's Book

This last book club meeting was yet another success.  Thank you to all who attended.  Thank you Pam for hosting.  The discussion on last month's book The Shack was fabulous, as there was a lot to talk about.  I appreciate that the themes in this book were able to make us think, and really appreciate and value our own personal beliefs and relationship with our Heavenly Father.

The book for April is The Hiding Place by Corrie ten Boom
This months book club meeting will be hosted by Chelsea Bruggeman.

March's Book

Well we have officially had our first book club meeting and it was a success!  We had good discussion about March's book Sense & Sensibility.  I think we came to the concensus that it was a good book but difficult to get into for some.  We also discussed several other books that we had all read for possible future book club picks.  I will be listing all of those on this blog at some time in the near future.

We have planned for book club to be the first Tuesday of every month.

The book for April is "The Shack" by William Paul Young.  The meeting will be April 7th at the home of Pam Carson.  Time is still to be determined.

February's book

This month's book is Sense and Sensibility.  I chose this book because I have read 4 of Jane Austen's books already, my most favorite being Pride and Prejudice. Sense & Sensibility is one I've always wanted to read, but I just never picked up.  I've heard that the language can be kind of tough in the beginning, but once you get used to it it's good.  So don't be scared.

A little about me.  I've been married 10 years to my great husband Erik.  I am a work at home mom to my 3 great kids, meaning I stay at home with my kids, and it's a lot of work!  :) I love it though.  I am currently an exercise science major/nutrition minor who will be graduating either this summer, or fall, depending on when I can get my internship done.
Some of my hobbies include reading of course, jogging/running, any exercise, I enjoy cooking, singing, playing the piano, and just being outdoors when it's nice and warm.  I grew up in Florida & California as a navy brat.  I was 16 when we moved to Colorado where my dad retired.

Welcome Cherrywood Sisters!

Welcome to the Cherrywood Sisters Bookclub Blog!  I thought that I would create this blog so that we can all get to know each other a little better.  Also, for those of you who have a difficult time making it to book club, but still would like to read the book and give your thoughts, you can do it on this blog.

We are still trying to work out a time each month (or every other month) to meet.  I will be posting dates and times on this blog as well.

As for structure of this book club, I thought that each sister who is interested in participating can choose a month, and pick a book for us to read for that month.  It can be church, fiction, non-fiction, whatever you would like.  I was also thinking that whoever chooses a book for the month can host the meeting that month as well.  If that is a problem, just let me know, and we can meet at my home.

One last thing...I know this is wordy.  I would like to post a little "bio" of the person whose turn it is to choose the book.  I will be posting mine just to give everyone an idea.  I know most of you probably know each other pretty well, but I am still learning names, and you never know what you might learn about someone else.

Happy Reading!
